Twista presents - who's got next

This is the WORST album I've peeped in quite some time. I downloaded this expecting decent underground hardcore chi town MC's, bad production, and Twista making at least a few tracks noteworthy.
I WAS DISSAPOINTED!
Every beat on this album sounds like something I could make using cheap FL stock synths, the beats are HORRIBLE. I guess they didn't expect someone to actually listen through each song, so they figured it was Ok to get lazy with it because every single beat has the corny ass fade out ending. Complete bullshit synths are used with corny ass melodies that are even out of key at some point.

This sad attempt at an album was so poorly executed. It switches back and forth between female sung slow jams and corny ass gangsta punchline tracks. Every single chorus on the album sounds like it was thought up by an autistic ghost writer. I WOULD RATHER LISTEN TO 808's ON A 8 HOUR CAR DRIVE THEN EVER PEEP A SONG FROM THIS ALBUM AGAIN.

My initial decision to download and review this was because of Twista. TWISTA IS FEATURED ON ONE TRACK, he also has 2 short skits. Anyways, this album is packed with shitty production, "cheetah girls wannabes", weak ass MC's that all flow the same, and ONE short appearance by twista over a corny ass beat.

If for some reason you want to download this shitty excuse for an album.

ludacris - theater of the mind

This is hands down, the best album of 2008.

EASILLY!!

The never inconsistent luda delivers another classic release. Personally, this is one of the best collaborations i could possibly picture. Despite the huge list of co-stars(yes, i said co-stars) Luda manages to hold his own amongst a pool of sharks including T.I, Common, Jay-z, Nas, The Game, Lil' Wayne, and Rick Ross. There is also some amazing, unexpected productions on this album including, 9th wonder, AND DJ PREMIER! 'Cris delivers such an incredibly versatile album that there is a track for every type of fan in hip hop.

Luda effortlessly outshines the living legends; Nas, and especially Jay-z, on "I do it for hip hop." Despite Jay-z's terrible '16' this track still lands a spot within 'dope shiet' playlist on itunes.
T-pain, one of the biggest song sluts in the industry makes an appearance on the chorus of "One More Drink." He does a great job at making a funny, lighthearted, club track that describes a night that most of us can relate to. T-Pain has really redeemed himself lately, the only dude I can listen to on autotune over SELECT tracks.

There is a whole movie vibe concept going on with this album which is a good representation of Luda's new focus, directing. Hence why every track on this album has "co-stars," instead of features. Floyd Mayweather and Chris Rock enhance this movie vibe, on tracks "Undisputed, and Everyone Hates Chris."

Ludacris lets everyone know he is the champ with TOTM, outshining every single "co-star" on this display of brilliance. I haven't been this stoked on an album in a long ass time. Currently, I am not playing this album because I don't want to get burnt out on it(if thats possible).

As you may have noticed I am a hard reviewer, so you know its no joke that I'm rating this album 9.5/10.

I feel bad about posting a download link, but 'Cris makes it evident that he has enough assets.

Black Milk - Tronic

Well well well. It seems now that Black Milks productions are all over hip-hop lately, I don't have to force people to listen to his music anymore. Black Milk has come a long way in the hip-hop game, and a lot of people seem to be implying that the only reason he's big now is because J Dilla passed away. I totally disagree with that, the feel of his music compared to Dillas are nearly polar opposites on many tracks.

Tronic provides Black Milks banging beats, and pretty good lyrics. Although Black is generally known for his production abilities, this album shows a slightly more lyrical side of the artist. And suprisingly there isn't an overdose of features. With features like Royce da 5'9, Fat Ray, and Pharaohe Monch, the album provides a more advanced version of the Dirty District sounds.

DJ Babu - Duck Season 3

Wow... Babu surprised many listeners with this album. His productions have improved since I last heard one of his beat tapes a while back. 

Not only did he provide the beats, he was able to get dope features on his album. From Stones Throw cats like Oh No and MF DOOM, to M.O.P., Guilty Simpson,  Planet Asia and many more. DJ Babu gathered Hip-Hop heads from coast to coast. This album was definitely one of my favourites of the year no doubt.

Johnson & Jonson - Johnson & Jonson

7/10

Although most know Blu for his projects with Exile, he has released a lot of music in the past year. He has released a couple mixtapes, and two other albums. One with Ta'Raach, and Johnson&Jonson which is his tag team with producer Mainframe.

This album consists of peculiar features in the fact that they named every feature with the last name Johnson. I don't know the secret meaning behind that idea, but it makes me laugh, and that's good enough to make me know that the album has a comedic factor to it.

In my opinion this album is very creative, especially due to the samples Mainframe chooses to use. Blu of course, as usual comes hard on every single track. His lyrical content and wordplay lace each of the tracks precisely. The only weak point I'd say in the album is some of Mainframes productions. He seems to just loop some of the songs. When I say loop, I mean play one bar over and over without adding any drums. Some of the loops are dope, but come on.....

As long as I'm in that new JMT vibe I might as well do a review of Reef's new album.

Reef, the philly MC, having worked with such acts as Army of the Pharoahs, and Celph titled presents an album destined to be shelved.
I am so tired of cats releasing albums with 20 tracks on it that sound nothing more than mixtape quality. The beats easily outshine Reef on this album, not saying the beats are anything really special, But Reef fails to bring the heat on most of the tracks. The main drawback is that there's 20 tracks that all fall somewhere in the middle.

Furthermore, this album has no replay value what so ever. I truly only like one song off this album, the rest are cool, but Reef sounds like a typical myspace rapper on this one.

Anyways, your best bet is just checkin out the few select dope tracks off this album like Amnesia, Nat turner, and Bad lieutenant.

Alchemist - Alchemist's Cookbook EP

It's safe to say that anything Alchemist does never falls short of dope. He maintains this consistency with Alchemist's Cookbook.
The album has a has a number of dope acts featured on it such as; Jadakiss, Snoop dogg, Pusha T, and ofcourse, Mobb Deep.

Not too much to say about this one, if you are a fan of Alchemist and Mobb Deep, you definitely won't be disappointed by this release.

Q-tip - the Renaissance

ATCQ fans won't be disappointed of this dope release by q-tip.
The first impression I got from this album was how he managed to make a successful record but keep that classic vibe. This album is fly because it satisfies them hip hop heads, and also provides a fresh new sound on the mainstream hip hop scene.

The album cover fits the record perfectly. With tip bringing the heat on the MPC, and the current state of hip hop turning to a more lyrical approach, q-tip sets the stage for a new movement across the mainstream scene.(hopefully)
